The studio will be open on Saturday, October 3 with a ‘skeleton crew’ in place while most of us are away at the training weekend. Group Classes and Practice Party running as usual – come in and support the remaining crew.

The next major event for the studio is our Medal Ball for 2026. It’s on Saturday, November 14 at the Wall Centre Hotel, downtown Vancouver. This is a full day event with all 4 BC studios participating and there are lots of ways to participate – you can dance in the event or spectate. Daytime has solo performances, dance heats and professional show. Evening has an elegant formal dinner dance, medalist presentations and professional show. Enrollments are ongoing until mid October.

We have secured a great room rate and it will be available until October 12, 2026 to take advantage of.

We have a visiting coach in October – Gretchen M.- and that’s a great chance to fine tune your solo performance, start something new for the next event or sharpen your medalist dancing for for the upcoming Medal Ball. There are also 2 workshop opportunities: Intermediate Level Bachata on Wednesday, October 7 and Advanced Level Night Club Twostep on Thursday, October 8.

Fall FESTIVAL will round out the year and we are open to your suggestions since we are always looking for new and innovative themes and ideas to try out 🙂 Things are in the planning stages now so make sure to let us know.

Looking into 2027 we will be attending the Beach-O-Rama dance event in Cancun, Mexico. This is an exciting event in a beautiful, exotic location so make sure to ask your teachers about the possibility of a fun dance trip in your future 🙂

We announced the future opening of Arthur Murray, Burnaby, BC for sometime in 2027! Barbara Lynn will be franchisee there and we look forward to having another studio in the area.

PAST NEWS:

Wednesday, September 16 was our Guest Party. Held on El Dia de Independencia in Mexico that day, so we did a Latin theme with a bit of Mexican fiesta thrown in. Thank you, everyone, for your guest referrals to the studio!

Something new we tried over the summer is the Guest DJ Night series. That was a popular success so we look forward to next summer’s series 🙂

In July we had an in-studio Picnic Themed Potluck Dance Party for Friday, July 24. So much deliciousness! Check out the photos online.

The studio did a Food and Toy drive for SHARE Family Services Society, a great local Tri-Cities organization who do so much good work in the local community. The food weight this year was 550 lbs with cash donations of $955.00 – thank you, everyone for your donations for that great total 🙂

Christmas Party Potluck was on Friday, December 19. Thank you to Santa and Mrs. Claus for your help! We are not sure how many people were in attendance but it was big one again this year with lots of food and dancing.

Halloweeek! ran for 2025 as an all-week thing and what a fun week it was. 2 Halloween Parties this year and a prize draw on Friday night – congratulations, Shin-Li for winning the big prize!

Guest Party was on Wednesday, October 22 and thank you to everyone for bringing in someone to show the studio! 🙂

October 18 was the British Columbia Medal Ball, our autumn gala event! We had the 4 local studios attending this year: Coquitlam, Vancouver, Victoria and White Rock. Check out the photos on the Arthur Murray Coquitlam Photo Albums page.

Chante was in the studio at the beginning of October and she did a couple of great workshops with she was here.

Our summertime in-house dance event, the Spotlight Ball was on Friday, August 22 – a great opportunity for our students to showcase their social dancing or solo routine and invite some friends and family to the event to see them dance.

New to the calendar – we spontaneously added a Picnic Night for Friday, August 8 – what a great to share a fun summer evening dancing together and sharing some good food 🙂 Photos are on the Arthur Murray Coquitlam Photo Albums page.

Spring FESTIVAL 2025 is concluded – theme parties, formations, NC2 group classes, the ever-popular dinner dance and a new addition the Prize Night on July 4 (congratulations to our winners with Patrick H. winning the grand prize). What a fun time with lots of participation this year!

The British Columbia Showcase, where all 4 of the studios in the province attended was on Saturday, March 29 at the Marriott Pinnacle in Vancouver downtown. Student performances, adjudicated group heats and staff performances. There was a “Fire and Ice” dinner dance in the evening. Lots of photos will be online on the studio photo albums page and, as always, lots more at the studio, running on the big tv 🙂

The St. Patrick’s theme party was on for Friday, March 14. Lots of green attire! A fun time dancing with the locals of the studio 🙂 Check out the photos on the photo albums page.

Thank you everyone who invited guests to the January Guest Party on the 29th. It’s always a great time of year to start new things, so make sure to bring in those people you know who have told you they have always wanted to learn! Remember you can always invite a guest in to come to see the studio when you’re coming in for your lesson.

Beach-O-Rama was in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and we had a great team attending. What a fun trip and a great event. Check out some of the photos online of their great adventure :).

We started 2025 with a Hangover theme party, the last one in the Fall FESTIVAL theme party series. It’s past the party season, now, and it’s the perfect cure 🙂 Congrats to Celrina for winning the prize draw.

2024:

Thank you to everyone coming to the Christmas Potluck Party and bringing in something non-perishable to share with the Food Bank! We were able to donate, as a group, 419 lbs of food and $1565.00 for SHARE Family Services Food Bank.

The studio is turned 20 years old in 2024, so we held a Birthday Bash to celebrate that – December 14, 2024 (exactly 20 years to the initial studio day in 2004). Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate – dancing, cake and the cutting of the 1 year gouda cheese wheel ;).
