Q?

How do I get started?

A.

Getting started is easy. YOU CAN START AT ANY TIME. The first step is to schedule a free introductory lesson with one of our trained instructors. During that lesson, your instructor will determine your current level and recommend an appropriate course for you to continue. To set up your free introductory lesson now, call us at 604-544-5008, or email us from our Arthur Murray Dance Studio Contact Page

Q?

When do your Salsa (or Tango or Ballroom…) lessons start?

A.

The beauty of the Arthur Murray teaching system is that your lessons are by appointment and you can start at any time.  The Private Lessons allow you to specialize in a particular dance, if you wish.  Group Class and Practice Session are also included in your program, running at various times per week, and will cover a variety of dances, in rotation.

It's a bit like the way university works, you major in a certain dance or style, designing your own class schedule, and there are supplemental dances, like "electives" in your program to round out your skills.

Q?

Will I be able to use what I learn?

A.

Yes! We can gear you in a practical way for whatever specific style you want whether it is a natural look of social ease or the polished look of a trained ballroom dancer.

Couples gain a whole new way of connecting together.  Single men can increase their dating potential many times over by learning even a few basic dance leading skills. For women there are skills to be acquired in responding and moving in a graceful way.

For the more long-term dancer there are many life enhancing benefits - for specific details, see our benefits page.

Q?

Will I learn the latest patterns and techniques?

A.

Yes. Arthur Murray Dance Studios is the world's largest ballroom dancing organization putting us in touch with all the recent dance developments from around the globe. Constant upgrading for all the staff at the Arthur Murray Studio ensures that you are always learning the very latest styles whether you are working on the current 'craze' dance or a more traditional one - Salsa, Bachata, Zouk, Swing, Hustle, Samba, Merengue, Fox Trot, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Mambo, Waltz, Tango, and others.

Q?

What should I wear to my lessons?

A.

For your first classes just make sure that you wear something comfortable that does not restrict your movement. Many people like to wear what they might if they went out dancing. For footwear, smooth leather or suede soled shoes are best but you can get by initially in rubber soled shoes particularly if they are not too "grippy".

Q?

When can I take my lessons?

A.

You can take your lessons any time you wish. Our studio is open Tues-Fri from 1pm-10pm, and Sat 10am-6pm. Scheduling lessons is quite effortless and our system accommodates difficult schedules, such as changing shifts and travel, easily.
